A foreclosed cabin might be the log home of your dreams if you search hard enough.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with owning a log home in the mountains of North Carolina. That may seem odd since I hail from South Florida, and the beaches were my backyard. But, my parents would take us to the North Carolina mountains every summer for our vacations, and I developed a real desire to have my very own log home. When I got married, I told my husband about my dream, and he embraced it with me. We went to log home conventions, log home universities and even took tours of log home manufacturing companies. I have hundreds of log home magazines, coffee table books and videos in my possession. See also The Ozark Cabin Where Memories Are Made When we decided it was finally time to build, we hunted for land for several years until we found the perfect two-acre piece of property in the mountains. Then, the 2008 crash happened. We never built our log home. Three years later, someone gave me the idea that maybe the log home of my dreams might be in foreclosure, so we were back on the hunt. It took us a year, but we found a brand new log home in the very community we had looked at originally. When we walked up to the door of our log home, I exclaimed to my husband: “That’s the door!” You see, I had a vision board in my office that had all of the photos of my perfect log cabin. Included on the board was a beautiful front door. The door of this house was the exact same model. The cabin also had the 22-26 inch logs that we desired. Not only that, it had the long-range mountain views, and it was almost exactly the layout of the house that I had drawn in my journal. It had the three levels with the wraparound deck on the main level, the walkout finished basement and the two bedrooms upstairs. It even had the French doors that led from the master bedroom out to the deck! Even though the cabin is almost 3,500 square feet, it still feels cozy, which is also what I had wanted. I believe in vision boards and dreams and miracles, and this log home certainly proves that to me on a daily basis.
