At Bad Axe Throwing you are actually allowed to throw real axes in one of their many indoor facilities. The first Bad Axe opened in 2014 in Ontario, Canada when owner Mario Zelaya wanted to try and "urbanize" the traditional sport of axe throwing and bring it to people in cities. The facility was wildly popular and Bad Axe has since expanded to 18 locations across Canada and the United States (with 4 more opening within the next few months).
Axe throwing has been a staple in lumberjack competitions but it has not been available commercially to the everyday public until recently . The concept of the sport is very similar to darts or archery. The player throws the axe at a target consisting of 5 rings. The outside ring starts at 1 point and each ring increases one point and the bullseye counts for 6 points. You can play a match or just freethrow to experience the exhilaration of the sport!
Bad Axe locations accept walk-ins, group events and large corporate events. Their group reservations cater to birthday parties, bachelor or bachelorette parties, family reunions and even divorce parties! They are in the process of obtaining a liquor license and will be selling craft beers from local microbreweries on site.

If you think that axe throwing sounds dangerous have no fear! Every event at Bad Axe is hosted by a professionally trained coach who demonstrates the correct way to throw and monitors the safety of the group. No one has ever been injured at any of their locations.
Enthusiasts of the sport can even join Bad Axe’s axe throwing league which is sanctioned by the The World Axe Throwing League. The leagues run for 8 consectutive weeks. Top rakers in the league are eligable to participate in the The World Axe Throwing League Championship which takes place in December in a different location every year.

Ages: There is no age limit (besides the Chicago location where you have to be 18+), but if the coaches think that someone is not strong enough to throw the axe in a safe manner they will not allow them throw.
