Make Your Cabin Cozier for Holiday Guests

Planning for a full cabin over the holidays? Help every loved one feel right at home with this checklist.

1.
Extra air beds/mattresses. Keep sleeping bags on hand for younger guests who will eagerly camp out on the floor.

2. Clean linens, towels, blankets and extra comfy clothes, including sweatshirts, wool socks, slippers and robes.

3. A well-stocked fridge and pantry. Prepare drink mixes by the pitcher to make it easy for guests to help themselves. Don’t forget ingredients for s’mores!
4. Simple instructions for using the stereo system, kitchen appliances, etc. Share the cabin’s idiosyncrasies, including the limitations of the water heater.

5. Night-lights are a good idea if you expect young guests. They also make late-night trips to the bathroom easier. Be sure to keep extra bulbs on hand.

6. Simple holiday décor. Encourage guests to contribute to the tree and table centerpieces. Hang fun photos for a homey touch.
7. Diversions, including brochures for local restaurants and attractions, a list of outdoor activities, and a small library of books and back issues of Cabin Life.

8. A roaring fire in the fireplace and an ample supply of split firewood.

9. An alarm clock/radio with a large snooze button. This is the cabin, after all!
Photos on the wall help to create a welcoming vibe.
