John W. Hession, courtesy Bensonwood Bensonwood designed this cottage and a replica of Thoreau's cabin in Concord. The exterior stonework was completed by Stonescapes of Boscawen, N.H., and is inspired by cottages the owner saw while traveling in England. The interior is warmed by a colonial-style Rumford fireplace and features salvaged windows with leaded glass. The owner, an avid gardener, designed and built the surrounding gardens.
